The Past
In the past a lot of really exciting stuff has been developed using Fortran, R, Matlab, Mathematica, and other desktop scientific, statistical, and
mathematical environments. However when it comes to delivering these solutions to the public or a customer, the entire idea had to be redeveloped
using Java, .Net, C++ or other languages so that they were compatible with organisational computing environments.
The gap between the research process
and the software development process was large involving a great deal of duplicated effort, especially in areas such as testing and verification.

GatorCrunch streamlines the evolution of a technical solution from scientific problem definition, through the research process, and finally

We developed GatorCrunch for our own use to fast track the development of advanced algorithms, the traditional methods were just too slow.
